Paxton Net2

“Could not connect to the server”

If an error message is received stating that the server cannot be connected to, this is a common error:

1. Try to stop and restart the Paxton server by right-clicking the icon from the system tray on the lower-right of your screen:

2. If that does not change anything, try opening the Net2 Configuration Utility. Click on the Database tab and then select “Restart Services”:

3. If that does not resolve the issue after several tries, or if the Configuration Utility will not run, try rebooting the computer.

4. Make sure the account signed into the PC is an admin profile.  Also, check with the IT department if possible to make sure permission rules are not blocking the use of the program.

5. Make sure the correct version of the software is being used.  The dialog box in the beginning of installation asks the user to select the Pro, Lite, Demo or Client.  If the Client version was intended but not selected during installation, try opening the configuration utility and checking the box on the General tab that says "Enable server browsing".  This option will prompt the user to select a server on the network before signing in.  Uninstalling and reinstalling may be necessary if the configuration utility will not open.

6. Another edition of the software my need to be used if none of these options work.  This software is not 32/64 bit specific, but older versions can be less stable and may not work on every computer.  In some cases, an older version will work better than a newer one.
