How to Demonstrate the Toggle Mode Feature
When first opening up a new 79 Lock, please note that it’s firmware -by default -is always in the 79M/790 standard mode, regardless of cabling.
Only when programmed by RezShield does the 79T functionality get set in a given lock. However, when using a 79 lock as a demo, it can be configured to work as a 79T with a test card/credential –as long as it is in “virgin” mode (non-programmed).
With all cabling attached, the following steps show how to activate the 79T Toggle mode demo:
1 – Verify that the 79 Lock is in virgin state (lock hasn’t been programmed via RezShield or FDU). Otherwise, put the lock in virgin mode.
2 – Remove the battery pack for 20 seconds to discharge the internal PC board.
(requires 3/32” allen wrench)
3 – Turn the mechanical key to the vertical position (open position).
4 – With the inside handle turned down, put the battery pack back in the lock.
5 – At the RED light flashing, release the inside handle and turn back the mechanical key to horizontal position (normal position).
6 – From now, this lock can toggle with the TEST keycard/credential.
To return to the 79M/790 default mode:
1 – Remove the battery pack.
2 – Wait 20 seconds.
3 – Put battery pack back in.
